Tendulkar all set to score half century of centuries

Come October the first and the cricketing world will witness the start of another edition of test cricket’s marquee rivalry between two of the world’s best teams – India, the current world number one and Australia, the former numero one . While the cricketing world will be expecting another epic and intense battle between two of these formidable sides, all eyes will also be glued to India’s favorite cricketing son Sachin Tendulkar who is on the verge of reaching another milestone.
Tendulkar has so far scored 48 hundreds in tests – a world record. The upcoming series is therefore a perfect platform for the master batsman to take the tally of his hundred to 50. That, he has the opportunity to achieve this unprecedented feat before his home crowds makes it a much-anticipated and highly craved for wish among his fans.
Toppling records and achieving unprecedented cricketing highs have been nothing new to Tendulkar. Ever since he made his debut as a blue-eyed 16 year old teenager against Pakistan in the winter of 1989, Tendulkar has achieved many of cricket’s ‘firsts’. He has most number of ODI and test runs and centuries. He is the most capped player in test matches. He has been man of the match and man of the series on more occasion than anybody else in ODI cricket. The list of achievement is almost endless.
The stage is therefore all but set for the little genius from Mumbai to score his 50th test hundred during the course of the coming series. Tendulkar has been in prime from of late and has slammed 5 centuries in 7 test matches in the current year. The fact that Tendulkar has scored most number of his test hundreds against mighty Aussies (10) - a testament of his ability to excel against the best opposition- can only be seen as a good omen for the accomplishment of the milestone.
Let’s keep our fingers crossed and wait for the start of the series. Who knows if we get to watch him score one of these two hundreds on the very first day?
